Whether it’s more effective leadership among your team or increased production rates you’re after, team building and fun activities can boost the morale of your employees like nothing else can.
It’s a good idea to connect with your employees and get to know them on a personal, yet still professional level. It’s also important to interact and do the fun stuff as well. Below, you can find a few fun-filled activities to boost the morale of your employees.
Take a Zumba Class
It’s a well-known fact that employees who exercise and are healthy show up and perform better at work. There are plenty of local gyms with zumba classes that you can sign your employees up to participate in. Take the class together as a team-building exercise, so that you get to know a little about one another outside of the office, and get healthy at the same time.
Schedule a Scavenger Hunt
This team-building, morale boosting activity will take all of you back to your youth. Scavenger hunts are a perfect team building exercise. About a week before the hunt is scheduled, have your employees send you a list of things they would enjoy hunting down. Then make up your own list of things they will find. Split them into teams and turn them loose to find the items suggested. The first team to check off everything on the list wins!
Schedule a Trivia Night
Trivia nights are fun for everyone involved and challenge the mind at the same time. You can go to one of the many venues in your area that host trivia nights or go a step further and just schedule your own. Use generalized trivia, as well as different categories, but don’t forget to throw in a few work industry-related questions also.
Visit an Escape Room as a Team
Escape rooms are the happening thing today. Whether it’s a good old-fashioned whodunit escape or a horror escape room where you fight for your life (figuratively, of course), this is something that will be fun for everyone. The general idea is just as the name suggests, your team will be locked into a room and must figure out the clues to escape. This is the perfect way to build morale and teach your team to work together. It’s challenging, fun, and a great way to get to know one another.
Volunteer as a Team
It has been proven time and again that helping others is a good morale booster. Volunteering as a team for a cause that all of you feel strongly about is a nice way to build your team and make them happy. Take a vote to figure out where you will volunteer, then head out together to help those that are less fortunate than all of you are.
Put an Incentive Program in Place
While this may not be a fun-filled activity, putting an incentive program in place is a great way to encourage your employees to work together and boost their morale. While a gift card to Starbucks will be appreciated, go a step further and offer something more substantial.
Incentives that most employees would love include stocking their kindles with books they enjoy, signing them up for a class in their favorite hobby, or even paying for skydiving lessons for those who are adventurous. No matter what incentive you offer, if you tailor it to the person who wins, you will have a more appreciative employee afterward–one who will work even harder for your business.
