Through its participation in the Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD) Complete Energy Solutions program, the facility exceeded targeted energy savings—earning both utility accolades and a coveted sustainability certification.

Exceeding Energy Expectations

In 2023, Pacific Seafood committed to saving 57,282 kWh of electricity through operational and equipment upgrades. By November 2024, the site had already outperformed that goal—reducing energy use by 65,050 kWh. The improvements included LED retrofits, high-efficiency refrigeration, and smart energy management systems.

Certified Sustainable Business

These achievements earned Pacific Seafood certification as a Certified Sustainable Business from Sacramento County. The recognition underscores the facility’s leadership in environmental responsibility and its commitment to minimizing industrial impact.

Community and Climate Benefits

The energy savings equate to removing nearly a dozen cars from the road for a year—contributing meaningfully to local climate goals. The upgrades also created a brighter, more comfortable work environment for staff.

This milestone is part of Pacific Seafood’s company-wide ESG focus under its Mission 31 growth strategy. Similar upgrades are underway at facilities in Oregon, Washington, and Nevada.
