Pacific Seafood’s Sacramento-area facility has quietly become a standout example of industrial sustainability. Through its participation in the Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD) Complete Energy Solutions program, the facility exceeded targeted energy savings—earning both utility accolades and a coveted sustainability certification.
Exceeding Energy Expectations
In 2023, Pacific Seafood committed to saving 57,282 kWh of electricity through operational and equipment upgrades. By November 2024, the site had already outperformed that goal—reducing energy use by 65,050 kWh. The improvements included LED retrofits, high-efficiency refrigeration, and smart energy management systems.
Certified Sustainable Business
These achievements earned Pacific Seafood certification as a Certified Sustainable Business from Sacramento County. The recognition underscores the facility’s leadership in environmental responsibility and its commitment to minimizing industrial impact.
Community and Climate Benefits
The energy savings equate to removing nearly a dozen cars from the road for a year—contributing meaningfully to local climate goals. The upgrades also created a brighter, more comfortable work environment for staff.
A Broader Commitment
This milestone is part of Pacific Seafood’s company-wide ESG focus under its Mission 31 growth strategy. Similar upgrades are underway at facilities in Oregon, Washington, and Nevada.
Expansion in Sacramento
With further plans to implement solar and water efficiency technologies, the Sacramento facility continues to serve as a benchmark for how seafood processors can lead in sustainability without compromising performance.
Pacific Seafood’s success in Sacramento proves that environmental responsibility and operational excellence can go hand-in-hand—even in energy-intensive industries.
